PAINTING MEMORIES | Work in Progress

Sometimes when I close my eyes, I can see a memory as vivid and robust as the moment it happened.

This is one of those memories.

..."In a matter of minutes, a cloudless sky turned into a murmur of rumbles and murky clouds. To the east, nothing but pristine blue. To the west, grays and mist. To be a part of this crashing of atmospheres and display of nature's power was exciting, beautiful and kind of scary." (travel journal entry, June 2014)

This scene is inspired by this photograph I took last summer during a day at the beach.

I am working on a large gallery wrapped canvas ( 3'x 4') with acrylic paints. I want to recreate the vivid colors that I remember, but also make it a little more magical.

More to come soon!
